This policy explains what this website stores on your device, why, and how you can control it. We keep this to a minimum: the shop works without any tracking, and analytics only runs if you agree.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser so that it can recognise your device on a later visit. Websites can also use your browser's local storage, which works in a similar way but isn't sent to the website automatically with every request. This policy covers both.

The site language comes from the web address (for example /en/), so no language cookie is set. You don't need an account to order: your order status is shown through the private link in your order email, without a login cookie. The website's administration area uses a login cookie and request-forgery (CSRF) protection for the site operator only; these are never set for visitors or customers.

Analytics (only with your consent)

If you click "Accept analytics", we load Google Analytics 4 (a Google service) to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are viewed. We use Google Consent Mode v2: by default, analytics and advertising storage are set to "denied", and the Google Analytics script isn't loaded at all until you agree. IP anonymisation is switched on. If Google Analytics isn't enabled on this site at the time of your visit, no analytics cookies are set, even if you accept.

What we don't use

We don't use advertising or marketing cookies, the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, a Google Tag Manager container, social media plug-ins, live chat, survey tools or any other third-party tracking. The Google Analytics library (gtag.js) is loaded from Google's servers only after you consent. When you click a "Buy from ROOT" link, we count the click on our server without setting any cookie (see our privacy policy).

3. The cookie banner

On your first visit, a banner asks for your choice:

• Accept analytics: the necessary items above plus Google Analytics.
• Necessary only: only what the shop needs to work; Google Analytics isn't loaded.

4. How to change your choice or manage cookies

Your choice is stored in your browser (rh_consent). To change or withdraw it, delete this site's stored data in your browser settings (usually under "Cookies and site data" or "Site data"). The banner then appears again on your next visit and you can choose again. Withdrawing consent stops Google Analytics from loading from then on; you can delete existing _ga cookies in the same place. You can also block cookies and site data altogether in your browser, but the cart won't work without local storage.

5. Links to ROOT

When you click "Buy from ROOT", you leave this site. ROOT's store sets its own cookies under its own policy, which you can find on ROOT's cookie policy page.

We may use Google reCAPTCHA on our forms to prevent spam and abuse. reCAPTCHA may send information about your device and browsing behaviour (such as IP address, cookies and mouse or screen interactions) to Google for analysis; use of the service is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
