About ROOT
The ROOT Brands, or ROOT for short, is a wellness company based in Tennessee, USA. It sells food supplements, personal care products and books through its own online stores in many countries. As ROOT tells it, the company grew out of two careers meeting at the right moment: Dr. Christina Rahm on the science side and Clayton Thomas on the business side.
On this page we introduce ROOT using the information ROOT itself publishes.
The founders
Dr. Christina Rahm
ROOT presents Dr. Christina Rahm as its Chief Scientist and Chairman of the Board, and, according to ROOT, she is also CEO of DRC Ventures. ROOT describes her as a scientist, formulator and inventor who holds patents. She steers the scientific direction of a wide range of products, from supplements to environmental and protective technologies.
An older ROOT profile states that she holds a master's degree in science and several doctorates and graduate degrees across the sciences and humanities, with graduate work in nanotechnology, bioscience, engineering and nutrition. The same profile notes her belief that innovation in science only comes full circle when it works hand in hand with the arts.
According to ROOT, the question she asks of every formula is a simple one: “Would I give it to my own family?” Rahm, who lives in Tennessee, describes her search, as a mother, for answers she could trust as the starting point of her work. ROOT says her books, research and products now reach families in more than 90 countries.
Clayton Thomas
ROOT introduces Clayton Thomas as its CEO and the “architect” of its business model. According to ROOT, he has spent more than twenty years working on supplement formulas, solutions for environmental and human health, and wellness ventures.
As an entrepreneur in healthcare, he built business models that brought laboratory testing straight into medical practices, and he has worked as a business development specialist across almost every part of the industry: sales, distribution, formula development, consulting and manufacturing. Today he is the person behind ROOT's online sales and community platform, and ROOT says he puts particular weight on protecting users' personal data.
How the partnership began
ROOT frames its origin less as a business plan and more as two people with the same goal finding each other. Thomas had spent years building companies in the wellness space, while Rahm was deep in research and formulation work. When they joined forces, The ROOT Brands was born, a name that carries the idea of looking at health from the root up.
A short timeline
- 2020 – The start: ROOT describes this as the year science and community came together.
- 2021 – The Trinity: Clean Slate, Zero-In and Restore become the brand's core routine (sold today as the Trinity Pack).
- 2022 – ROOT Prime: the loyalty programme built on regular deliveries, ROOT Prime, launches.
- 2023–2024 – Growth: ROOT calls this the shift from start-up to an established name in its sector.
- 2025 and beyond: ROOT says it keeps widening its world of products and services, which it calls the “ROOTiverse”.
Values and culture
Balance is the key idea on ROOT's culture page. The company looks at physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being as one whole and says it wants to encourage people to take charge of their own wellness. Quality, transparency, accountability and community are the commitments ROOT places at the centre of its business. Bringing people from different cultures together around a shared interest in wellness is another of its stated aims.
Giving back
ROOT builds its philanthropy on three pillars: the environment, people and animals. By its own account, this covers conservation projects, education for disadvantaged children, access to education and medical care, and animal welfare initiatives. ROOT says it aims to back models that can keep going after the first contribution and to give a voice to communities that are rarely heard.
