ROOT in 2021: The Year Restore, The Trinity and ROOT Prime Arrived
Much of today's ROOT range took shape in 2021: Restore launched, The Trinity bundle was formed, the ROOT Prime subscription began and two new products closed out the year.

2021 is the year the backbone of ROOT's current range was put in place. A new leadership team took charge, Dr. Christina Rahm joined on the formulation side, Restore launched in April and the three core products were bundled as The Trinity. The ROOT Prime subscription followed in the final quarter, and in November Natural Barrier Support and Relive Greens reached customers for the first time.
2021 at a glance
- End of Q1: The ROOT Brands team (TRB) takes over; Dr. Christina Rahm comes on board.
- April: Restore is introduced, and Clean Slate, Zero-In and Restore are combined as The Trinity.
- May to September: the ordering and customer systems are rebuilt from the ground up.
- Q4: the ROOT Prime subscription (RPS) and automatic deliveries go live.
- November: Natural Barrier Support and Relive Greens open to subscribers first, then to everyone from 5 January 2022.
A new team, and Dr. Christina Rahm
The people who would steer the company were in place by spring. ROOT describes them as the TRB team, sometimes called the "Thomas, Rahm, Baker" team after the founders' surnames, and their stated aim was to grow the brand internationally at a time when health was at the top of everyone's agenda. Clayton and Ted led the business side, while Dr. Christina Rahm became the scientific face of the company.
ROOT presents Dr. Rahm as the scientist behind its formulas, and the habit of pairing naturally sourced ingredients with newer processing technology is credited to her. Most of the products we carry today come out of that approach.

April: Restore and QNET
The second quarter opened with Restore, a liquid supplied in single-serve sachets. With it, ROOT put the spotlight on what it calls Quantum Nano Emulsion Technology (QNET). Emulsion processing is a way of holding fat-soluble and water-soluble components together in one stable liquid, and this was the feature ROOT talked about most when Restore came out.
The Trinity: three products, one routine
Once Restore existed, the brand's three core products, Clean Slate, Zero-In and Restore, were packaged together as The Trinity. ROOT framed the bundle as a simple daily routine built around using the three side by side. It remains one of the most popular ways to buy ROOT; the contents and the suggested order of use are listed on the Trinity Pack page.
Behind the scenes: new systems
Between May and September ROOT replaced its back-office systems so they could cope with a growing number of orders. Projects of that size often cause a dip while they bed in; ROOT says its community carried it through without one. For customers, the upgrade laid the groundwork for the subscription model that arrived a few months later.
Q4: the ROOT Prime subscription
In the last quarter ROOT introduced the ROOT Prime Subscription (RPS) together with automatic deliveries. The idea was to say thank you to people who use the products regularly, with tangible perks. The launch listed dedicated customer service, automatic coupons that reduce shipping costs, first access to new products and a monthly members-only update call.
For how the subscription works today, see the ROOT Prime article in our guides section.

November: two new products
The year ended with two launches. Both were offered to ROOT Prime subscribers first in November and became available to every shopper from 5 January 2022.
Natural Barrier Support
Natural Barrier Support (a brand name, not a claim) is a powder. According to the 2021 announcement it contains vitamin C, zinc sulphate and vitamin D3. The same announcement gave the serving as 1/3 teaspoon a day, with 100 servings per bottle. Some ROOT listings give ¼ teaspoon instead, so please follow the label on the pack you receive.

Relive Greens
Relive Greens was introduced as a powder that combines vegetable and fruit powders with a bacterial culture (Bacillus coagulans). The suggested amount at launch was between 1/3 teaspoon and 1 teaspoon a day, giving roughly 100 days of use per pack.

Why 2021 still matters
Restore, The Trinity, Natural Barrier Support and Relive Greens either launched in 2021 or took their current form that year, and the subscription model dates from then too.
